Bird reflected on his fortune: a trophy wife, candelabra-wielding mother, stair-case threatening caregiver, saber-wielding brother, dentally and mentally challenged caretaker, crumbling house, money-sucking mortgage, dwindling bank account.
The Institute for Continuing Conflict
The premise of the novel revolves around political tensions between The United States, China, and the Dalai Lama. If that doesn’t seem too far-fetched then add some kooky characters and a plot to murder His Holiness.
If you are interested in books that are both funny and smart then look no further than author Christopher Buckley. His humor is so spot on and his plots are so clever that you will be ashamed that you didn’t come up with the ideas yourself. He takes important historical events or subject matters and turns them into satire in its finest form. Also, Buckley’s writing always consists of words that I don’t know, which is something that I look for in the books that I read.
I definitely recommend this book but I actually recommend his other book The Relic Master more than this one. The other book has a little more oomph to it, but this one is just as entertaining.
Sounds like a great book. Will have to look into it after I finish all the other ones piling up.
