Banned Books-A Few Reviews

This year my goal was to read 6 banned books. I do not think I need to write an essay on why banning books is bad, we all get it, so these are just my short thoughts on the ones I have read.

  1. Forever by Judy Blume. Young adult.
    • Enjoyable enough. She is the GOAT so it was important I read at least one of her books.
  2. Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. Middle Grade. Audiobook.
    • Loved it but it made me cry.
    • Listened to the afterword and what stuck out of me was the author saying: “10 year olds might not be ready for death, but it still happens to them.”
  3. All Boys Aren’t Blue by George M. Johnson. Audiobook read by the author.
    • I enjoyed learning about his life.
    • Topics can be triggering but are important.
  4. Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White. Childrens. Audiobook with a full cast.
    • I laughed a lot. The narration was incredible so I suggest listening to it instead of reading it.
  5. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou. Audiobook ready by the author.
    • Difficult to get through due to the nature of her life but so glad I listened to it.
  6. A Wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’Engle. Middle grade. Audiobook.
    • My least favorite. I could have skipped it and been totally content. But it is a classic.

Go forth and conquer some banned books. They are worth it.
