Tusk Love by Thea Guanzon

Let me start off by saying I know what D&D is and I have heard of Critical Role but that is it. The title of this book was created/mentioned within a critical role game and then turned into a real book. It is an official book so the idea was not stolen by the author. It is not a parody, but instead it is well written and adorable. You do not need to know anything about the game in order to read the book, but if you do it might make a little more sense. There are some detailed sex scenes but they are not too explicit.

The main character is taking a journey from one city to another in order to meet her betrothed. She has special powers that she does not like to use but is being pursued by dangerous characters and needs protection after her guards are killed at the beginning (that is not a spoiler.) On her way she meets an orc that saves her life and becomes her bodyguard. She is a little naive but wants to grow up and be responsible and is stronger than she thinks. The bodyguard is sweet and grumpy at the same time and you want good things to happen to him, They are super sweet together. You might get mad at the main female character sometimes but she is a good person and you will root for her and her love interest,

“You,” he breathed out against her lips, “are so much work, sweetheart. So why am I having the time of my life?”

My only issue with the book is that I wish there was more fighting. The fighting scenes were so good but there weren’t too many and they were short. I recommend this book to anyone who wants an easy romance to get lost in but not have to think too much.

Life could get hard and mean, but I didn’t have to be.”
